Gibson les paul '70 custom
On investigation of the body (routing, 'widows peak', etc.)
we believe this guitar to be a 1970. (Would be great if it was a '69, however serial number does not indicated that early!)
The original neck when replaced (and we believe this to be done at Gibson, because no one else was carrying Gibson 3 piece necks,) was mahogany and the joint is now a long tenon joint (And probably originally was.)
The wiring harness and pots all date 1979 (Sadly the original pots, which were stored at Gibson, could have dated anywhere from 66 up to 70. Meaning, some bugger has pinched them, to increase the value of another guitar.)
Other than that, we have changed the original black plastics (Which will be provided,) for repro aged '59 parts, and we have fitted Zebra T top 70's neck humbucker. The bridge is also a Gibson Humbucker. So to sum up, whilst its not the £7,000 + guitar we'd like it to be, it is a beautiful 1970 with a Marc Bolan vibe about it.
